AAI officials visit Jharsuguda
Officials of the State Government and Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Thursday visited the Jharsuguda airport to look into land acquisition for the airport.
The State Government has recently decided to develop the Jharsuguda airport as the second full-fledged airport in the State. The existing airport has around 815 acres of land and another 191 acres would be required following the State Government’s decision.
Chief Secretary B K Patnaik had a few days back said that the Government had decided to develop the State’s oldest airstrip at Jharsuguda.
In the process, the Jharsuguda administration would undertake land acquisition for the required 40 acres for construction of a runway for the Jharsuguda airstrip. The Chief Secretary had said that 40 acres would help construct a 6,000-foot-long runway.
AAI general manager A K Pathak exuded confidence that the land acquisition process and other procedures would be completed soon to make the airport operational.
District Collector Guru Prasad Mishra said the district administration had already instructed revenue officials to complete the land acquisition process at the earliest. Additional Secretary (General Administration) N R Lenka was present.
