Centre takes lion’s share of mineral profits, says Pyari
BJD strategist, MP Pyarimohan Mohapatra during his last leg of the poll campaign was at Deogarh and Sambalpur on Thursday.
Mohapatra, accompanied by MP Siddhant Mohapatra and BJD district president Rohit Pujari, hit out at the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre.
“Odisha is poor because of the step-motherly attitude of successive Congress-led Governments at the Centre,” said Mahapatra, while addressing the election gathering at Maneswar, Jamankira and Gosala. “People of Odisha are now well aware of the fact and they are determined to give a befitting reply,” he claimed.
Pujari also made a scathing attack on the UPA Government. “About 99 per cent of the profit from minerals is being enjoyed by the Centre where as the State remains a mute spectator,” Pujari informed. He alleged that in spite of frequent demands, the Central Government was yet to increase the royalty on coal and other minerals for the State. So the people should not tolerate the injustice made to the State since independence, he maintained.
Both the leaders also appealed the people to vote for the BJD in the ensuing Panchayat election as the regional party can only take Odisha in the path of progress and prosperity. They also gave a long list of the success stories of the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government in the State.
They appealed the people to compare the development works done during the BJD Government with the works of other previous Governments in the State. “Every village of the State is now motorable and the whole credit goes to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,” Pujari said further.
“From Rs 2- a- kg rice to the poor people to road connectivity and clean governance, all are the achievements of the BJD Government,” Siddhanta Mahapatra said.
