OHRC pulled up Police Officers in Bargarh
Odisha State Human Rights commissioner pulled of some police officers for handcuffing two under trills in the district of Bargarh in 2010. Justice Radhakrishna Patra the Chairperson of the Commissioner has orderd to the state government to pay Rs 25000 each of the victims namely Girija Pradhan and Pranab Pradhan. The Home department of the state government has to pay the compensation to the victims. Honorable Justice said to the media persons on Thursday that the victims were arrested in allegation of the theft case on 30th July 2012. Putting handcuffs on then local police has shifted them from Bargarh jail to court, much to chagrin of their family. The petitation was moved to the commission by Seema Pradhan wife of the victims Pranab Pradhan protesting against the inaction of the police.
