Low pressure formed, more rain likely in Odisha
Following a low pressure which likely to be formed over Bay of Bengal in the next two days, Odisha is expected to experience heavy rain.
According to Met office sources, due to windstorm in Bay of Bengal, a low pressure will be formed within next 48 hours.
In its effect, the state will receive rainfall beside the monsoon rain.
Meanwhile, the monsoon advanced to interior parts of the State and was active in many areas including the capital city.
In the last 24 hours, Hirakud received the highest rainfall of 22.9 mm, followed by Sambalpur- 14.4mm and Jharsuguda 12.2 mm.
Meanwhile, even as the city dwellers got respite from grueling heat wave condition that was prevailing for almost two weeks due to monsoon rain, clogged drainage system led to water logging in many areas.
While many streets were found flooded with knee-deep water, the rain water accompanied with drain filth entered the houses in many areas located in low-laying areas.
The situation was worse particularly in Acharya Vihar, Jayadev Bihar, Ashok Nagar, Bayababa Mutt lane, Bhagabati slum, Bomikhal and Old Town areas.
