Odisha to employ 10 lakh youth during 12th Plan period
The Government on Monday decided to create employment potential for 10,00,000 youths by providing technical training during the 12th Plan period- 2012-17. The decision was taken at a High-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Chief Secretary BK Patnaik said to media that every year as many as two lakh youths would be provided technical training at skill development centres and technical institutes to make them employable.
The educated young men and young women would be provided training through Indutrial Training Institutes in manufacturing sector, handloom and textile, driving, construction and heath services. Besides, they would be provided training in the telecom, banking, IT and IT-enabled services for their skill development, he said.
Patnaik said it was decided at the meeting to establish 43 new ITIs and poly-technics in the State during the current financial year to cater to the training needs of the youths. Besides, he said, the Chief Minister had stressed the need for infrastructural development of the IT and Polytechnics institutes and to upgrade various trades and appointment of more technical teachers.During the current year, Maoist-affected districts like Gajapati, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Malkangiri and Deogarah would have one ITI each.
