Lawyers Raise Voice for Govt Delay on HC Bench
Lawyers of Sambalpur have expressed their displeasure over the State Government’s silence on High Court bench issue. They have resolved to intensify their agitation over the issue.
An emergency meeting of the Sambalpur District Bar Association was held on Friday to discuss the State Government’s stand on the demand to send a comprehensive proposal to the Law Ministry on establishment of permanent bench of the High Court in Western Odisha.
The lawyers also urged the Central Action Committee of All Western Odisha Bar Association to convene a meeting of the executive committee and chart out future course of action over the demand. It was resolved that action committee of SDBA would seek support of all political parties and socio-cultural organisations and work out a strategy to get the demand fulfilled. It urged the Government and the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court to take appropriate steps to meet the demand.
Earlier, the SDBA had set a deadline of December 31 for the Government to submit comprehensive proposal to Law Ministry over demand and expedite the matter. They had threatened stir if the Government fails to submit comprehensive proposal before the deadline.
