Municipality Opens Temporary vegetable market at gobindtola, sambalpur

Besides providing a common place to the vendors, the initiative will also ease vehicular traffic on the main roads which have been encroached by the vendors.
Reports stated that 106 roadside vendors who were doing daily business along Dhanupali-Gobindtola Main Road besides at Dhanupali Chowk, Jail Chowk and Nelson Mandela Chowk have been allotted space at the newly developed vegetable market.
The Sambalpur Municipality has barricaded about one acre of land adjoining the embankment of Harad Joar Nullah at Gobindtola and made temporary arrangement for the vendors to sell commodities like vegetables, fruits and other edible items.
Even though the Municipality made the market operational from Friday, it has assured the vendors of constructing vending platforms besides providing other basic requirements to make it a full-fledged vegetable market.
Meanwhile, the Sambalpur Municipality has also decided to convert the weekly haat at Kamlibazar into a daily market to accommodate the vendors who are operating in other parts of the town at Ainthapali in front of fire Station and Reserve Police Line. Executive Officer of Sambalpur Municipality Aniruddha Pradhan said the decision to relocate the vegetable vendors was taken for smooth vehicular movement especially the town buses that are to be launched soon. “The daily vegetable market at Gobindtola has been developed to rehabilitate local roadside vendors,” added the Executive Officer.
