Missing woman found buried, husband arrested
Body of a woman missing for over two weeks was found buried 5 km away from her house at Sakhipara under Dhanupali police limits, Sambalpur on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Arati Debi (19), the wife of Kunal Singh, a native of Bihar. Kunal Singh is staying with family at Sakhipara for the last few years and he is an auto-rickshaw driver by profession. It had been a year that Arati was married to Kunal.
On January 1, Kunal had informed Arati’s father that she had gone missing and also lodged a complaint in this regard at Dhanupali Police Station on January 3. However, when he and his family members did not receive the calls of Arati’s parents, they arrived in Sambalpur on January 7 but found Kunal’s house locked.
After neighbours informed that the house is locked for the last two days, Arati’s family members reported the matter to police following which the house was opened in presence of a magistrate. Arati’s family members also complained that Kunal has an affair with another girl.
During course of the investigation, police detained Kunal who confessed that he and Arati got into an argument on December 31 last year, which culminated in her murder and burial of her body. Meanwhile, Arati’s body has been sent for post-mortem and Kunal arrested.
