A man was arrested for a second marriage
Redhakhol police have arrested Pradeep Pradhan(35) of Baniabandha village because of his second marriage without divorcing his first wife. He also tortured his first wife and asking one lakh rupees as dowry.
According to the complaint, four years ago Pradeep was married to Padmini, daughter of Pantab Pradhan of San Hindol village, Charmal police station. She has a 3-year-old son. For almost a year now, Pradeep has been beating Padmini and asking her to bring one lakhs of rupees from her father.
She alleged that hear father-in-law and mother-in-law were also involved. Unable to bear the torture, his father lived at home for some time.
Pradeep married a young woman from the Anugul area about a week ago and brought her home. Padmini lodged a complaint in Charmal police station on Wednesday.
Police arrested Pradeep by registering case no. 183 under section 498DA, 498A, 323, 294, 506, 4DP. He was arraigned in court today, police said. Padmini’s mother-in-law and father-in-law have also been notified.
