A final year library science female student of Sambalpur University was brutally attacked on Wednesday. Authorities rescued her with multiple stab wounds blood-soaked condition near Metakani Temple on the VIP road from a dilapidated house early Thursday morning.

The female student was reportedly assaulted by a group of 15 students near the university campus. The incident occurred around 12 am near a tea stall, approximately 300 meters from the university.

According to eyewitnesses, the student was lured to the spot by someone she knew, and then attacked by the group. She suffered severe head injuries, reportedly from being hit with stones.

Locals discovered the injured girl lying in a pool of blood about a few meters away from Metakani Temple around 5 PM. Upon being informed, police reached the spot and rushed the student to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.

A CT scan has been conducted as she sustained severe head injuries. Meanwhile, police have launched a search operation in various places and police have not yet recorded her statement.

It has been learnt that the victim student was mentally tortured and attacked. However, she was not raped. Sambalpur SP informed about this through the medical report.

It is to be noted that after the girl was rescued in a pool of blood soon she had been admitted to VIMSAR hospital in Burla. Later, she was shifted to Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Police informed that her health condition is improving.

Meanwhile, Sambalpur police detained two suspects in connection with the incident.

While the motive behind the attack is still unclear, it is suspected that the student was deliberately targeted. The incident has sent shockwaves through the university community, and students are demanding swift action against the perpetrators.
