Ushakothi Wild Life Sanctuary

A wild life Sanctuary, 43 km north-East of Sambalpur on National Highway 6 stretching for more than 130 km, the Sanctuary hosts of Elephants, Tigers, Gaurs, Sambars, Black panthers, Deer, Spotted deer, and Wild bears etc. There are two watching towers located near the saline tank inside the Sanctuary which enable the visitors to catch a view of these animals.

The sanctuary comprises of parts of Badrama Reserve Forests, Ushakothi Reserve Forests, Binjipali Reserve Forests and Additional Kansar Reserve Forests.

Ushakothi Sanctuary is also know as  Badrama Wildlife Sanctuary. For night halts there is one two roomed forest rest house inside the sanctuary. The reservations can be done through the Divisional Forest Officer of the same sanctuary, Sambalpur.

  • The sanctuary has its own significance for its rich treasure of flora and fauna , which includes many rare and endangered species.
  • The Badrama Wildlife Sanctuary provides a great enchantment and overwhelming experience for nature lovers. With place of scenic beauty and chances of wildlife sightings the sanctuary offers an excellent place of recreation and nature education to the people.
  • The sanctuary is also an ideal plat form for ecologists, research scholars and nature lovers.
