Class 10 students dies during treatment Laxmi Talkies Flyover Mishape
Class 10 student Clifford Kujur died during treatment who fell yesterday from laxmi talkies flyover while returning from St. Johns School.
In a tragic mishap, the minor boy who fell from the Laxmi Talkies flyover in Odisha’s Sambalpur district and suffered critical injuries, died today during treatment. The deceased was identified as Clifad Kujur, a Class 10 student of St Jones School in Sambalpur.
As per reports, Clifad had gone to the flyover after school at around 1 pm in the afternoon on Friday. However, he fell and suffered critical injuries. Police and people nearby rushed him to the district headquarters hospital. But as his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences And Research (VIMSAR), Burla where he died during treatment today.
Clifad’s death has raised serious questions on the safety of the flyover. Recently, a video of a group of youths clicking pictures at the same point in the flyover at Laxmi Talkies Chowk had gone viral. The boys were seen trying to take selfies at precarious spots but there was no security in place to prevent them. The recent mishap, while triggering serious public concern, has now also put a question mark on the district administration’s lax approach towards overseeing basic safety measures of the flyover which is still unprotected. The incident has led to locals demanding sidewalls for the flyover at the earliest.
