Congress seeks Lokpal probe in liquor deaths
Rejecting the government’s decision of a judicial probe in the Cuttack hooch tragedy, former law minister and Congress leader Narasingh Mishra demanded resignation of chief minister Naveen Patnaikover the incident. Accusing the excise minister A U Singhdeo of being responsible for the tragedy, Mishra alleged that the minister has direct links with liquor mafias of the state.
Briefing the press in Sambalpur on Wednesday night, Mishra demanded a probe through the Lokpal of CBI for speedy results. “It is crystal clear that the incident occurred due to the negligent attitude of the excise department,” Mishra said.
